On both Parties are the Same

It is Ironic that externally the U.S often pushes for Multi-Party democracies, yet here voters are subjected to the major two. Howbeit, Independents or Green party candidates do make some headway once in a while but nothing significant to push the power needle. Some younger people and new voters have seemingly gotten tired of the same old politics and the same Republican vs Democrats battles.

The great American divide has become even clearer in the past few years with each party proclaiming doom if the other gains power. Deadlocks and partisan politics have reigned the walls of congress and left some pointing out that both parties are the same when there’s compromise or reaching out across the aisle.

As politics often goes, one way or another the leaders of both the Democrats or republicans have not pushed enough or walked back on some of their campaign promises. Albeit, stating that both parties are the same though is somewhat far-fetched. It may stem from the conspiracies of ‘the establishment’ being really the ones in charge, and politicians giving in to lobbyists and donors, but there’s enough empirical data that outlines contrast.

The bills, responses, budgets, allocations, talking points, appointments and perceptions of politicians on either aisle are often quite distinct. While the democrats evolved with the times and fight for diversity, inclusion, equal rights and climate change, Republicans are still singing the same single issues songs. Their outrage and controversies clutching on extreme notions by the day. One could not have heard or read or see some of these statements from Republicans and surely conclude that both parties are the same:

Furthermore, the GOP has pretty much admitted that they are more about obstructing than governing. Some of their major obstructions are on issues like Women reproductive rights, affordable college, Welfare programs, School funding,  Peaceful protests, Criminal justice reform, Diversity and representation, Sexual Assault, PPEs, Unemployment funding, Police reform,  Campaign finance reform, Voting reforms, Accessible healthcare among many others.
